It's our 5th anniversary.
While John is working at UPS we will never be able to celebrate this day like it should be celebrated, but we did get to go out to dinner with the kids and drive around and look at the very few Christmas lights in the Valley this year. I spent a lot of time reflecting on what this day was like 5 years ago. It was a beautiful snowy day. We had so many family and friends supporting us at the temple the luncheon food was great. The reception was good. We were happy and excited to start our new lives together. John was still in school and working the Pre-Load for UPS. I was in my first year of teaching. We had a two bedroom apartment and lots of time to spend together. And we were skinny! :)
Today, John is working full time with lots of hours. School seems like forever ago. We have two kids, and just a little bit of time to spend together, ( hardly any time alone), and a few extra pounds, but we are still as happy and excited for the next 5 years as we were the first 5.
We've been blessed in our marriage. It hasn't been hard, the marriage itself, though there have been some hard things we've gotten through together. We've had times of sickness and times of health. There have been some rich times and some poor times. There have been some bad days in the hospital and some great days on family vacations. There have been discouraging days and days filled with excitement and hope. There have been days where we felt like our future was not clear and other days where we could see miles down the road. Through it all we've held onto each other and looked forward with faith, sometimes through tears, but still, faith.
5 is great.
